I was a little late getting the starfire book but I’m so happy to finally have it!

I’ve been sooo curious how they were going to write her since they have put these characters in a more modern setting and have them all with freshly discovered powers.

It was pretty neat setting up the starfire vs blackfire rivalry so early but also giving them some time to be sisters.

It also means so much to me that Kori and Vic became friends first. Their similarities make for such a good friendship dynamic that isn’t always fully explored. So making Vic the first friend she can trust, just *chefs kiss*

That’s it for now I guess. Can’t wait to see the whole group dynamic in the next book. It is weird having two robins but I feel like there is a lot of potential there.

Here’s hoping they’ll find bumblebee, kid flash, and supergirl in the HIVE facility

I think the reason why so many people ship Rafe and Kie is because we actually get scenes where there's tension and buildup between them. We see him being "nicer" towards her than he usually is to choking and fighting with her to being somewhat nice again. Like I don't ship them personally (although the chemistry between Drew and Madison is literally chefs kiss) but at least their dynamics were explored. I don't care about the right and wrong of them being shipped, just that the character dynamic were explored.

But with Sofia, I feel like there's zero tension or previous build up. Sofia's just dumped on us suddenly and randomly and we're expected to ship them? Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Sofia x Rafe solely because Drew and Fiona are so cute together and some of the scenes are hot. But it's hard to ship the characters and find them entertaining romance wise when we're literally given no romantic moments of both Rafe and Sofia "courting" each other. Like, who liked who first? Who made the move? Those little glimpses of jealousy and attraction and desire we initially see in John B and Sarah or Kie and JJ's relationship are all missing in Rafe and Sofia's relationship. There's no actual romance and tension just romantic scenes. Maybe I'm not making sense but I know yall get what I mean!!

you know the show is going to be good when it starts off with whump… i introduce you to my new blorbo peter, an FBI agent who gets wrapped up in some conspiracy plot and is protecting/rescuing a civilian. he gets injured in an explosion + run over by a car in the first 10mins of ep 1, has physical and emotional-traumatic scars, gets shot at + beaten up + punched MULTIPLE TIMES throughout the series, major delicious whump with aftercare in ep 6. plus a cute slow burn. it’s an old style spy thriller and it’s (whumpy) goooood.

hmm, random thoughts about the FXMQ... a silly headcanon: Feng Xin has very much been hoisted by his own petard by heckling Mu Qing! That is to say, he'll harass Mu Qing relentlessly about something stupid only to be confronted with a similar situation and realise that there's absolutely NO way he can act in anyway similar to Mu Qing or he'll never hear the end of it.

(For example, he has tolerated some truly atrocious divine statues in the past because he's heckled Mu Qing so much about how picky he is with his divine statues that there's no WAY he can say ANYTHING without seeing that smug bastard's face in his head so he just has to bite his tongue and tolerate some unspeakably ugly statues.)

Mu Qing doesn't generally suffer from similar overthinking (he'll just prepare to kick FX's ass if he dares to say anything about it) except for things more directly related to himself. I think he genuinely finds sewing/embroidery/etc rather relaxing work but he'd rather die than have anyone ever see him do it because he's made such a big deal about not doing that sort of "servant" work anymore.

(He actually really enjoyed stitching Ruoye back together because it gave him the perfect excuse -- he's returning a favour!! and Xie Lian is hopeless!! of course he had to!! -- and he secretly considered using white thread to embroider some invisible little designs just because he doesn't quite want to stop... only he knew he'd get caught if he messed with Xie Lian's spiritual device like that and gave up the idea)
